It amazes me that people put a lot of time, effort and even money into the temporal things of life, such as material things, acquiring money, positions of status and possessions and so little time, effort, and money on the eternal things, such as eternal life, character development, marriage, and family. Most people put more effort, time, and money into their vocation than they do into preparing for eternity, marriage, and family. The one that gets me the most, is the lack of spiritual preparation for life. Not only in this life, but more importantly, the life to come. It’s like the paratrooper or skydiver. If your chute ever fails to open, there is no second chance. It’s the same with eternity. If you don’t get it right in this life, there’s no second chance in the next life. It’s the greatest gamble of all. Jesus said it like this; “What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?” That’s why the church exists! To help you get it right, to help maintain good spiritual health, and offer hope in this life and the life to come.
